Manager, Innovation, Industry Standards

In partnership with regional Merchants, Digital Partners and Acceptance teams, as well as cross-functional partners around the globe, Global Acceptance Solutions works to expand merchant acceptance and help merchants and acquiring services partners grow their businesses through Acceptance solutions and programs. At its essence, building acceptance is about driving the secular shift from cash to electronic payments, with the promise of giving consumers the best payment experience – one that is fast, convenient, and secure.

As payments extend across channels and devices and the lines between physical and digital converge, the Acceptance team ensures Mastercard acceptance methods remain relevant by creating innovative solutions for our customers and partners. The Global Acceptance Ecosystems, Insights and Analytics Team works in close partnership with product, franchise and local teams to ensure that our solutions architecture and standards reflect and anticipate the changes in the ecosystems and value chain, and our Mastercard acceptance network and reach continue to expand and provide the best acceptance experience to cardholders.

The Manager joining the team will be spearheading projects across acceptance product lines, to ensure that our solutions architecture and standards reflect and anticipate the changes in the ecosystems and value chain. As part of this role, the Manager will assess holistic implications of requirements on the whole acquiring value chain, including the intersection of standards/policies, and economics, keeping future proofing top of mind. The Manager will also be working hand in hand with the regional teams to capture trends and needs.

Job Responsibilities:
Become the SME for acceptance frameworks and standards, supporting Global Acceptance Product colleagues in their product build journey, assessing necessary changes, providing guidance throughout execution. Support the teams in defining optimized transaction coding standards for new innovative Acceptance Solutions, along with the respective indicators, liability position, chargeback edits and monitoring for proper reporting.
Partner with regional Acceptance teams to monitor trends, competition standards changes and new entrants in adjacent ecosystems: identifying commonalities across regions, sharing best practices, understanding ecosystems implications as well as strategies to foster innovation and partnership.
Partner with Franchise and the regional Acceptance teams to consider holistic implications of new Mastercard requirements on the Acquiring Value Chain, including the intersection of standards/polices, compliance programs, and economics, keeping consistency top of mind.
Partner with Fraud, Franchise, Cyber & Intelligence and Digital Solutions to drive safety, consistency, and resilience, future proofing the deployment of acceptance solutions. Help identify synergies between product lines, shifts in reporting and narratives to increase consistency, accelerate go to markets and minimize impacts on the ecosystem; partner with the respective teams to develop the mitigating actions.

• Acquiring payments experience desired, with affinity for technical/ industry/ security standards
• Passion for digital payment and identity innovations, trends and ability to relate to Mastercard’s digital strategy and digital solutions
