Title and Summary

Student Product Designer

Mastercard have built an initial suite of Open Banking Solutions and are now in the process of bringing them to market, commercialising and enhancing them, predominantly to date in Europe. See www.mastercard.com/openbanking. Over the last few years we have established a large, cross-functional team that is focusing on product design and delivery. In the last 2 years, we also completed acquisitions of Finicity – a leading US open banking data aggregation and analytics company – and Aiia – a leading European open banking solution provider.

The role sits within European Open Banking Connectivity team based in Copenhagen which aims to deliver the highest quality payment initiation and data access across Europe supporting a wider range of payment types and a rich set of financial transaction data from which Mastercard and their clients can develop compelling applications for consumer and business customers.

This role will be a key position in our team of product professionals who manage the build and maintenance of our own API connections.

You will own Mastercard’s connectivity across a number of European countries and aim to become a champion and in-house expert in open banking connectivity. You will be become part of a team that is blending the agility of a fintech scale-up with the strength and resources of a leading global technology company.

Job description:

This is a student position, with an expected commitment of 15-20 hours weekly.

• Design and prototype user interfaces for internal tools using Figma, ensuring consistency, usability, and accessibility across all components.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand user needs, business requirements, and technical constraints to inform design decisions.
• Iterate on designs based on feedback, user research, and usability testing to continuously improve the functionality and usability of internal tools.
• Create wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes to communicate design concepts and workflows effectively.
• Collaborate with developers to ensure seamless implementation of designs and maintain design system integrity within Figma.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in design and open banking to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge.
• Advocate for user-centered design principles and contribute to fostering a culture of design excellence within the organization.


All about you:

• You have at a minimum completed the 2nd year of a relevant Bachelor's degree and are currently pursuing a Bachelor's/Master's degree.
• This is a student position, with an expected commitment of 15-20 hours weekly.
• Hands-on experience with Figma or other design tools, either from another student position or university courses, is preferred.
• Experience as a Product or UX designer in a previous position, or experience in Fintech, is a plus.
