About OpenOrigins

OpenOrigins is building a global trust layer for the internet’s media content, ensuring we can always tell what is real and what is fake. As low-cost, highly-convincing synthetic media saturates the internet, it becomes increasingly difficult to discern truth from misinformation.

OpenOrigins believes that content provenance decentralised trust is the answer to reinstating believability back to media. We secure future content (establishing proof of origin for newly captured media) and protect the past (safeguarding media archives).

Founded in 2021, we are venture-backed and preparing to scale rapidly to tackle this critical challenge. Our co-founders, Mansoor Ahmed-Rengers and Ari Abelson, bring deep expertise in blockchain, cybersecurity, and scaling high-growth startups.

Location: We are hybrid-remote. Preference for people in: London, NYC, Boston, or US East Coast.

About the role

We're looking for an ambitious Founding Account Executive to spearhead revenue growth and lay the foundation for our sales success. This is an entrepreneurial opportunity to be the first quota-carrying salesperson at a high-growth, early-stage startup. You’ll have the unique challenge of building sales processes from scratch, shaping messaging and outreach strategies, and scaling our business. You will…

  • Own and drive the full sales cycle from outbound prospecting to close;
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to grow revenue, leveraging experimentation in messaging, channels, and sales processes;
  • Prepare and deliver compelling presentations, proposals, and pitches to potential clients and partners;
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to network and promote the business;
  • Establish scalable sales motions and best practices, ensuring repeatability and efficiency in deal execution;
  • Manage complex sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders and negotiation with senior executives;
  • Collaborate closely with marketing and product teams to refine positioning, feedback loops, and go-to-market strategies;
  • Lay the groundwork for a scalable outbound and inbound sales engine.

  • a commercially-driven self-starter with strong B2B SaaS experience;
  • proven ability to manage and close complex, high-value deals;
  • an outstanding communicator; verbal, written, and when presenting and can easily articulate difficult concepts;
  • entrepreneurial and want to be part of building a business. You want to rise faster or earn more than would be possible in any ‘normal’ career and you’re happy to roll up your sleeves and do whatever’s required;
  • have a track record of exceptional performance, whether it’s in academia, work, sport, or whatever else you’ve put your mind to.

Qualifications, skills & experience

  • We like to hire on ability, motivation and aptitude rather than only on past experience. Background is important, but it is not enough by itself.
  • What makes you a great fit:
    • You have 3-7 years of experience in startup sales, from prospecting to closing (with a strong track record). At least 1 year focused on long, complex sales cycles;
    • You have experience in seed-stage start ups, repeatably going from 0-$5M revenue;
    • You’re an expert user of HubSpot;
    • You’re willing to travel abroad frequently for industry events and conferences
    • You care deeply about the OpenOrigins mission.
  • What makes you stand out:
    • Track record of success in media, cybersecurity or blockchain
