Operations
Turnkey is revolutionizing key management with an API designed for unparalleled security, flexibility, and ease of use in the Web3 ecosystem. Founded by the leaders who scaled Coinbase Custody to over $100M+ ARR, we are rebuilding crypto infrastructure from the ground up, tackling foundational security challenges to empower developers.
Much like AWS transformed computing with the advent of the cloud, Turnkey is building the trustless, transparent, and decentralized infrastructure that will unlock the next wave of mass-market crypto applications, solving the critical challenge of secure, flexible key management.
This is a highly cross-functional role with direct impact on revenue, product, and customer experience.
We’re hiring a People Operations Generalist to build and run the internal systems that keep Turnkey fast, compliant, and high-performing. You’ll own a wide-ranging portfolio – from onboarding to benefits, compliance to performance reviews – and be a trusted partner in supporting our team through every day processes and complex or sensitive sensitive people matters.
This is a role for a sharp, systems-oriented generalist who wants to work on meaningful problems and take on real ownership early. We’re especially excited about candidates who’ve thrived in high-context, high-performance environments, and who want to grow into a strategic People leadership role over time.
You’ll start by owning key People Ops processes end-to-end, while working directly with the COO, CEO, and team leads to shape Turnkey’s people strategy as we scale. This is a high-trust, high-impact role that requires judgment, empathy, discretion, and a bias toward action.
This is a broad role and will evolve over time. Some examples of what you might work on:
Run our employee lifecycle: onboarding, offboarding, paperwork, equipment, and systems access—ensuring no detail gets dropped
Serve as internal lead for payroll, benefits, leave, and employee records, in partnership with external vendors
Maintain employee handbook, workplace policies, and ensure ongoing compliance across jurisdictions
Own execution of our performance management process: manage timelines, coordinate feedback cycles, and keep quality high
Maintain and evolve our compensation philosophy and benchmarking infrastructure
Coordinate internal team events, offsites, and key cultural rituals
Act as the first point of contact for sensitive employee issues (e.g. international relocations, terminations, or complex transitions)
Take on ad hoc operational challenges—especially where automation, documentation, or system design can help the team move faster
2–4+ years of experience in a high-performance environment – could be people ops, consulting, ops, or another rigorous generalist track
Strong writing and systems-thinking skills; you can spot edge cases, connect dots, and design clean processes
High EQ and sound judgment, especially when dealing with sensitive or confidential topics
Willingness to get in the weeds and figure things out without a playbook
Comfort navigating ambiguity and a desire to grow into more strategic work over time
Experience with People tools like Rippling, Carta, Remote, or similar
Prior ownership of a performance review or compensation process
A track record of making things better and faster through automation or process improvement
Full benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, HSA/FSA, 401(k)
Paid parental leave
Unlimited PTO (and we will force you to take time off!)
$3,000/yr learning and development budget
Multiple team offsites per year
Macbook Pro laptop
Lunch stipend for those in the NYC office
